SEAT car sales outperform Irish market

SEAT ended the first half of 2017 with their best commercial result since 2001, writes Trish Whelan.

The brand’s global sales grew by 13.7pc compared to the same period in 2016, to stand at a total figure of 246,500 cars (2016: 216,800).

SEAT’s Ireland’s performance continues to outperform the global success with sales increased by 20pc year on year. In addition, the brand continues to outperform the Irish market which is down 10pc year on year.

Niall Phillips, Brand Director at SEAT Ireland commented, “The first half of 2017 has been phenomenal for the brand and follows on from an extremely successful 2016. With SEAT on its greatest ever product offensive introducing the all new Ibiza this month, the new Arona SUV later this year in addition to upgrading the Leon and introducing the Ateca last year, we are confident the graph will continue to move in the right direction and our success will continue.”

He said the results are the fruits of the labour of the entire team at SEAT, and their dealer network across the country.

Another SUV with up to seven seats, and positioned one segment above the Ateca, will come next year.
